Blackjack, one of the most popular card games in casinos, is a simple yet profound game in which players enjoy playing against the dealer. The rules are relatively simple and can be quickly learned by beginners, but the game also includes elements of strategy and luck, making it a thrilling game to play. Below are the detailed rules of blackjack.

Objective.

The object of blackjack is to play against the dealer and bring your card total close to “21”. However, if the player exceeds 21, he or she loses (bursts). For a player to beat the dealer, his or her card total must be close to 21 or the dealer must burst over 21.

Card Value

  • 2-10: The number on the card is the score.
  • Picture cards (J, Q, K): all count as 10 points.
  • A (Ace): counts as 1 or 11 points (you can choose either to the player’s advantage).

Game Flow

  1. Place a bet: The player places the first wager on the table. Once the wager is placed, the game begins.
  2. Cards are dealt:.
    • Both the dealer and the player are dealt two cards each.
    • The player’s cards are dealt face up and the dealer’s cards are dealt with one face up and the other face down (hole cards).
  3. Player’s choice: The player checks his or her hand and chooses the next action.
    • Hit: To draw an additional card. The goal is to bring the hand total close to 21, but if it exceeds 21, the player bursts and loses.
    • Stand: To play the hand without drawing any more cards.
    • Double Down: If you are confident with the first two cards, you double your initial wager and draw one additional card. After that, it automatically stands.
    • Split: If the first two cards are the same number, you may split your hand in two. If you split, add a separate wager for each hand, and play proceeds with two hands.
    • Surrender: If you are not confident in your hand, you can “surrender” after the first two cards have been dealt to get back half your wager and get out of the game (if available).
  4. Dealer’s Turn: After the players have finished their actions, the dealer plays his or her hand.
    • The dealer continues to hit until the total is “17” or higher (usually stands at 17 or higher).
    • If the dealer exceeds 21, the dealer bursts and the player wins.
  5. Determination of winners:.
    • A player wins if his or her card total is closer to 21 than the dealer’s.
    • If the player and the dealer have the same total, the game is a tie (a push) and the wager is returned intact.
    • If a player bursts, he or she loses immediately.
  6. Blackjack (special role): If the first two cards dealt are a combination of an “ace” and a 10-point card (10, J, Q, K), it is called blackjack and you automatically win for 21 points. Normally, winning blackjack pays 1.5 times your wager (exception: if the dealer also has blackjack, the game is a tie).

Special rules and options

  • Insurance: If the dealer’s visible card is an ace, the player may apply insurance. This means that the player can place an additional half of his or her wager on the possibility that the dealer has blackjack. If the dealer has blackjack, the amount wagered on insurance is doubled back, but the normal wager is lost.

result of a victory or defeat

  • Wins: If the player’s card is closer to 21 than the dealer’s, or if the dealer bursts, he wins and gets double his wager back.
  • Losing: If the player bursts or the dealer’s hand is close to 21, the player loses and loses his wager.
  • Tie: If the player and the dealer have the same hand total, the wager is returned unchanged.

summary

Despite its simple rules, blackjack is a game with a strategic element that players can enjoy, as there are many times when players have to make decisions, such as hit, stand, or double down.
